Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

...At issue is so-called “armor-piercing” ammunition, an exemption for those bullets mostly used for sport by AR-15 owners, and the recent popularity of pistol-style ARs that use the ammo.

The inexpensive 5.56 M885 ammo, commonly called green tips, have been exempt for years, as have higher-caliber ammunition that also easily pierces the type of soft armor worn by police, because it’s mostly used by target shooters, not criminals. The agency proposes to reclassify it as armor-piercing and not exempt.

But I have to say I was surprised by the use of rhetoric that had a violent tone to it. And the fact that after saying that, neither Bill O'Reilly or anybody at FOX, including some of the people I used to work with there, amicably, felt obligated to say well, you know, that's going too far. Apparently they think it's proper for one journalist to call another one names and also to say they ought to be put in the kill zone.

The thing that bothers me most about that, is that not that it scares me off the story or anything, but I have family members, I have friends who are concerned about me now. And why? Only because I'm doing my job as a reporter in Washington, D.C., not in a war zone, and yet they now fear that, you know, that language like that might have repercussions. I don't know.

I don't want to be all doomsday about it. But I do know it's highly inappropriate and just from a sake of humanity, he can call me a liar, even though he doesn't disprove, as you noted, a single fact in the story that Dan Schulman and I wrote. But talking about putting me in a place of death? I mean, if he can't recognize that's going too far, then I guess that speaks for itself.

Executive amnesty is sold as being limited, but these immigrants will soon have their family members join them in America, sending their children to school on the taxpayer dime and putting relatives on welfare. Later their own children are likely to fall into the welfare system and require taxpayer subsidies until their death. The total amount of money printing that will be required in a nation that is unable to pay its existing bills is staggering. Look at the numbers below, it is not too hard to see taxpayer funding rising above $100,000 per person in some cases. For 5 million people alone, these costs could easily skyrocket to $500 billion, exceeding the level of the Bush tax cuts. OF course, these costs will be split between state, local and federal governments, so the true total will be hidden from the public.

AMNESTY BENEFICIARIES COULD CLAIM MORE THAN $35K IN TAX BENEFITS IN FIRST YEAR

CRS calculated the maximum level of tax credits available to hypothetical families with three and four children. It found that for a family with three children in the four years from 2011-2014 “phase-out threshold amount” would be able to obtain $35,521 in the EITC and CTC.

A family of four in that same four year time frame and circumstance could obtain $35,560.

In those years considered, the “phase-out threshold amount” for both hypothetical families was $21,770 in 2011, $22,300 in 2012, $22,870 in 2013, and $23,260 in 2014.

Both hypothetical families were also able to amass around $9,000 worth of the EITC and CTC annually in the years CRS considered.

The big problem for the U.S. central bank is that it cannot print borrowers. The federal government counts as a borrower though, so skyrocket the deficit and have the Fed monetize the debt, with the proceeds going into the pockets of illegal aliens, first being skimmed by the Washington predator class to line their own pockets.

The economy and stock market will boom, but average Americans will fall further behind as costs rise and "good" real estate becomes more expensive. Quality of life for many lower income Americans will fall.

White Privilege Is Earned

You earn privilege, in this case white privilege, by strictly policing the behavior of your race/ethnic/religious group. A way to think about this privilege is to think of how parents give out privileges to their children, or how schools let the "good kids" get away when they do something wrong. The parents and schools are acting out of experience.

The way the world works, culturally-white black people are punished due to bad behavior by their group, while white scumbags are able to slide by acting like an upstanding member of society. The classic example is Eddie Haskell from Leave It To Beaver.

White privilege is like how black people speak differently around other blacks. White people behave differently around each other. It's not our fault that other people want our privileges, but our group built them and maintains them through strong policing. When whites enforce white codes of conduct on minorities, they are called racist. You cannot win.

What the progressive SJWs call "white privilege" is simply white culture. It is impossible to oppose white culture without being a racist, nor to eliminate it without removing white people. Restricting white's ability to act like white people will only cause whites to behave more insularly. Most whites in America will extend white privilege to white-presenting minorities. If society turns hostile to white culture, whites will hide their culture the same way black people hide their manner of speech in mixed company.

The answer to complaints about white privilege is to say, "Act more like white people."

When Whites Get a Free Pass

With more than 1,500 observations, the study uncovered substantial, statistically significant race discrimination. Bus drivers were twice as willing to let white testers ride free as black testers (72 percent versus 36 percent of the time). Bus drivers showed some relative favoritism toward testers who shared their own race, but even black drivers still favored white testers over black testers (allowing free rides 83 percent versus 68 percent of the time).

The study also found that racial disparities persisted when the testers wore business attire or dressed in army uniforms. For example, testers wearing army uniforms were allowed to ride free 97 percent of the time if they were white, but only 77 percent of the time if they were black.

Indictment of New York Officer Divides Chinese-Americans

For Chinese immigrants in New York City and elsewhere, recent events have provided an opportunity for a rare public reckoning with one of their adopted country’s most volatile fault lines. Though Officer Liang and one of the two New York officers killed in an anti-police ambush in December shared a Chinese heritage, Chinese-Americans have so far figured little in the debates over police misconduct and racial injustice that have roiled the country.

Now Chinese-Americans, too, find themselves divided.

Some have hesitated, reluctant to find politics or racial discrimination in the indictment of Officer Liang. Others have hailed the charges against him as a means of improving relations between the police and all minorities. But for some, the indictment is nothing less than the scapegoating of a young officer whose parents may have to live without their only son — and a call to arms for a minority group that has never been as politically active as blacks or Hispanics.

The progressives are working hard to turn Asian immigrants into tribal racists, but most of them favor law and order, leading to a conflict.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

The UCC has divested nationally and in the state. Following the service and a period for coffee, at 11:20 in Fellowship Hall state Sen. Ben Downing will join Antal in a panel discussion "Divest: Dispatch from the Faith Community and the Legislative Frontlines." Sen. Downing is sponsor of a bill to divest the state's pension funds.

David Brooks: Giuliani's Comments "Unacceptable," Incumbent Upon Republicans To Police The Party

JUDY WOODRUFF, PBS NEWSHOUR: At one of the Scott Walker events this week, former New York Mayor, David, Rudy Giuliani made a statement that has gotten a lot of attention. He basically — he talked about President Obama and said, “He wasn’t raised like we were,” talking to the group. He said, “He doesn’t love this country as we do.” It’s gotten a lot of attention. Do we — how big a deal is it?

DAVID BROOKS: Well, it’s — you know, it’s unacceptable. You can’t say that. He doesn’t know that. It’s not true. It’s self-destructive. There’s sort of, I don’t know, who to blame, I don’t know, somebody like that. There’s almost sort of a Mort Sahl, Richard Pryor ethos where the person who says the most shocking thing is the best person. And sometimes on the stump, that seems to happen in partisan rallies. And Giuliani said something that I’m sure, like, shocked the bourgeoisie, but it’s unacceptable. And I hope it doesn’t define the Republican race.

JUDY WOODRUFF: You see it stopping there?

MARK SHIELDS: Judy, I think this — has to be signaled, has to be stated, and has to be called out. Rudy Giuliani’s language is unacceptable. This wasn’t given at some shadowy end-of-the-road, secret handshake to get into the room with sort of a paranoid fringe group. This was 60 people, major fund-raisers and donors, Republican, at the 21 Club, a bistro, a signature bistro in New York City. And to this group of people, he basically said the president doesn’t like America.

And this is — I go back to John McCain, who in 2008, when this was a hot issue, had the courage to confront a Republican audience in Lakeville, Minnesota, when they made this charge and said, no, that is untrue. President Obama is an American. He cares about this country. He loves this family, and I like him, but I disagree with him on the issues.

No doubt you've heard this already: DHS intelligence report warns of domestic right-wing terror threat

The report adds that "law enforcement officers will remain the primary target of (sovereign citizen) violence over the next year due to their role in physically enforcing laws and regulations."

The White House has fended off criticism in recent days for its reluctance to say the words "Islamist extremism," even as the conference this week almost entirely focused on helping imams and community groups to counteract the lure of groups like ISIS.

Absent from the White House conference is any focus on the domestic terror threat posed by sovereign citizens, militias and other anti-government terrorists that have carried out multiple attacks in recent years.

An administration official says the White House is focused on the threat from all terrorists, including from sovereign citizen and other domestic groups.

Sovereign citizens are jackasses who shoot at local law enforcement. If these people are "terror threats," then certain neighborhoods in certain cities are terror training camps because they produce a heck of a lot of new recruits, fire a lot of ammo at police, as well as engage in ongoing terror campaigns against local residents.

Mark Potok, senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, said that by some estimates, there are as many as 300,000 people involved in some way with sovereign citizen extremism. Perhaps 100,000 people form a core of the movement, he said.

If there are up to 300,000 already, the potential numbers are several million. Look how fast ISIS sprung up. New forms of communication, such as social media, allow groups to form rapidly.

Ironically, SPLC is itself a terror group.

With rabbits, the truer the charge, the louder the screams. Leftists go into instant defense mode when being accused of being unpatriotic because they are not patriotic. The charge sticks like tar. They do not love America as it is or Americans as they are, they love an ideal of America that does not exist until the progressives have total power to smash their enemies. They side with America's enemies over her allies.

Finally, there's one national politician not named Sarah Palin willing to speak the truth:

Giuliani: Obama influenced by communists since youth

Rudy Giuliani doubled down on his claims that President Obama doesn’t “love America” in an interview with The Post Friday — claiming the commander-in-chief has been influenced by communists since his youth.

“From the time he was 9 years old, he was influenced by Frank Marshall Davis, who was a communist,” Giuliani said. The ex-mayor added that Obama’s grandfather introduced him to Davis, a writer and labor activist.

Giuliani also said another bad influence on Obama was Saul Alinsky, a community organizer whom the ex-mayor called a “socialist.”

The man once called “America’s mayor’’ also sharply criticized the president for having been a member of a church led by radical Chicago Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

“He spent 17 years in the church of Jeremiah Wright, and this is the guy who said ‘God damn America, not God bless America,’ ’’ Giuliani said.

“Obama never left that church.”

People are uncomfortable with Giuliani charging Obama as unpatriotic because his comments describe most of the media, political and academic establishment. The Cathedral is unpatriotic and anti-American.

If the president goes and makes a speech and talks about what a great country this is, if the president could complete the following sentence, during the Crusades the Christians were barbarians and so were the Muslims, if the president could say Islamic fundamentalist terrorism is our enemy, I will applaud the president. But until he does that, I will have doubts about his emotions, his feelings, his attitudes and the way in which he developed. We haven't even mentioned some of the other communists and leftists who educated him as a young man. But all we need is Reverend Wright. 17 years in that church and that man condemned America over and over and over again. And he remained a member of that church?

He absolutely is saying the president doesn't love America, and as Alex [Wagner] pointed out, the president's speech that we all remember, he said only in America could my story be possible. That would be a fine argument if Obama thought America was good in general, but he, and his wife, only believe America is good because he won. He loves himself and since he won election, thinks America loves him too. He has no love for America otherwise.

Pelisek broke the story of the Grim Sleeper serial killer, so-called because he was back on the prowl after taking a decade and a half off. The arrest of Lonnie David Franklin, Jr. in 2010 led to a horrifying realization: there had been at least five serial killers active in South Central in 1984-1994, murdering about 100 people, most of them black crack prostitutes—and nobody noticed.

Four of the serial killers were black.

People who shout "Black Lives Matter" don't to anything to save blacks lives, in fact they actively support policies that lead to more black deaths. And then there are people who genuinely seem to care, or at least take actions that actually save black lives:

“It’s controversial, but first thing is all of your — 95 percent of your murders, and murderers, and murder victims fit one [unintelligible]. You can just take the description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all of the cops. They are male, minorities, 15 to 25. That’s true in New York, it’s true in virtually every city in America,” said Bloomberg.

“You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people getting killed,” he continued. “First thing you can do to help that group is to keep them alive.”

... It’s all the same group. Nobody in New York gets murdered — if you get murdered the first thing you want to do is [ask] ‘what were you selling or who are your family members.’ Because it just has to be you’re a drug dealer or you [unintelligible] a family quarrel. There’s just no other kind of murder whatsoever,” 

We did a calculation on how many people who would have been dead if we hadn’t brought down the murder rate and gotten guns off the streets,” Bloomberg said. “And the way to get guns out of kids hands is to throw them up against the wall and frisk them.”

Politics Is Zero Sum To Leftists

Conservatives act as if it is 1830, where two opposing sides with largely similar views about the role of government are debating public works projects.

After the conclusion of the War of 1812, British factories were overwhelming American ports with inexpensive goods. To persuade voters in the western states to support the tariff, Clay advocated federal government support for internal improvements to infrastructure, principally roads and canals. These internal improvements would be financed by the tariff and by sale of the public lands, prices for which would be kept high to generate revenue. Finally, a national bank would stabilize the currency and serve as the nexus of a truly national financial system.

Clay's American System ran into strong opposition from President Jackson's administration. One of the most important points of contention between the two men was over the Maysville Road. Jackson vetoed a bill which would authorize federal funding for a project to construct a road linking Lexington and the Ohio River, the entirety of which would be in the state of Kentucky, because he felt that it did not constitute interstate commerce, as specified in the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution.

A conservative president and Congress could annihilate the left by cutting spending. Do you ever get the sense that a lot of SJWs and liberals seem to have a lot of time on their hands to do "public advocacy"? It is because it is their job. They are paid with taxpayer dollars, funneled to "community" groups. ACORN and Planned Parenthood are only the most high profile of these groups. The left swims in an ocean of taxpayer funding. Of course, to cut off this funding would be an act of political war......

Animal-cruelty scandals are myriad in Vietnam. Gangs of thieves steal dogs and sell them to restaurants. Tuan Bendixsen of Animals Asia, an NGO in Hong Kong, reckons that dog thieving for this purpose has become even more widespread in Vietnam since 2013. Neighbouring China cracked down on dog-eating in Beijing when it hosted the Olympic games in 2008, but it remains popular in some parts of the country, especially in winter when it is considered to help keep the body warm. ...Foreign criticism, and the growth of a pet-owning middle-class at home, is putting pressure on the government. Along with other South-East Asian countries, Vietnam pledged in 2013, albeit non-bindingly, to stop the dog-meat trade. A draft of the nation’s first veterinary law is due for debate in May in the National Assembly, Vietnam’s legislature. It is expected to require that animals be treated humanely.

Vietnam should waffle back and forth between doing something and doing nothing to keep the issue alive forever. The Cathedral always needs a target, better to give them an inconsequential one that never truly goes away.

Obama said that even though religion is a source for good around the world, there will always be people willing to “hijack religion for their own murderous ends.”

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

People sometimes used the Bible to defend slavery and Jim Crow because they were increasingly indefensible, coming under criticism from......Christians. So......yeah.......

The Crusades were a counterattack when Muslims were behaving like ISIS 1000 years ago, attacking Christians in the Holy Land. No Muslims, no Crusades.

Evil committed by Christians while on the Crusades were acts against the teachings of Christ. Muslims committing evil while invading foreign lands were following Mohammed's teachings. Christians who committed evil went to Church to confess their sins. Muslims had no such need, since it is not a sin for a Muslim to rape children, crucify and torture in the name of Allah as long as the victims are unbelievers. ISIS is at least not so bigoted, and will commit all manner atrocities against Muslims too. Maybe there was an "I have a dream" fatwah.

The Inquisition could be renamed the anti-colonial Muslim removal act. Again, evil was committed by Christians acting contrary to the teachings of Christ, in the process of removing Muslim occupiers.

Another point on the difference between Muslims and Christians: have you ever heard Muslims apologize for all of their repeated invasions? They committed acts of war as acts of religious devotion. The suicide bomber and ISIS child-rapist of today may only differ in degree from the Muslims who invaded numerous nations whose names can only be found in the history books.

It is true, sometimes Buddhists or Christians or Jews or Hindus will "hijack religion for their own murderous ends," but these instances can be numerated and have been condemned by the religion itself, with condemnation often coming from contemporaries. Islam is murderous by nature and you'd quickly be unable to numerate all the acts of evil committed in the last month, let alone the last 1000 years.

More than 700 years ago, Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaiologos,  under siege from Muslims, asks in a dialog with an "educated Persian":

"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only bad and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

Islam is as it ever was, much closer to murder hijacked for religious ends than vice verra.

Incoming: the Islamic State agrees with Obama. Or rather, maybe President Obama took notes from the Islamic State video of the Jordanian pilot, since he made the same arguments.

If I have bags under my eyes, it's because I've spent the last 48 hours dissecting every second of the sad video that documented the murder of the Jordanian pilot. And I will tell you how that video begins. It began with, "b-ismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm" which means in the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful. 

It then went to a clear and very obvious declaration that this was from the Islamic State. It was not some fancy acronym like ISIL and ISIS and all of this. It was clearly the Islamic State. And then the video proceeded to talk about the Crusades, which he had mentioned at the prayer breakfast today, to bring up every grievance against Israel, the Jews, and every other possible infraction that anybody has ever done against Muslims, so that we become a culture of wooed collectors and that is how we act out with only violence.

So to pretend that this isn't a reality of Islam in the world today, that there is a "true Islam" that is the reality of our world is to me just a dance that we're playing to our peril.
