On a scale of 0 to 100, 100 is willing to spend all resources and sacrifice one's own life and 0 represents homicidal indifference, 30 is how much most people care when hearing about a mass casualties from an earthquake in a country they've never heard of, 40 is how they care when the stranger is identified and their life story is told, 50 is how much they care when that life story substantially matches their own. A functional society adds several dozen points to care for a life. People that do care are given resources to increase the caring of any one life. Just as life is worth more in a wealthy society, civilization increases the care for any life substantially. Civilization + proximity lifts care for life into the 70-90 range. We recognize as heroic the people who rise to 100 for strangers; these men are uncommon as a percentage of the population, but civilized societies have enough examples of this behavior that it is not uncommon.

1. People care most about their close relatives. Black people have fewer close relatives due to the destruction of the family (civilization). (Few 100s for an individual life)

2. The few close relatives lack the social capital to make others care. One person with a lot of private resources can get more people to care, but many people with no resources and no network cannot. (The few 100s and 90s cannot call upon the 30-80s. The neighbor down the street in a major urban area might barely register 40 or 50).

3. The nearest strangers who care are those who interact with black lives: social workers and the police.

4. Crime and violence are a major source of the loss of black lives, ergo the police are most actively saving black lives. Social workers may care, but due to 1, are on net doing things that lead to the taking of black lives.

5. Black and leftist political organizations hate the police more than anything since August 2014.

6. The second most hated group, right-wing/white people, keep police caring about black lives by supporting the police (other factors such as support for religion that says all lives matter count, but less immediately)

7. Left-wingers seek to demoralize right-wing white people, reject right-wing values and remove right-wing white people from power.

8. A tipping point is reached when the absolute number of right-wing people falls and the willingness to spend political capital defending police in left-wing controlled cities declines. "Something must be done about Baltimore!" becomes "Baltimore is your city, do with it as you wilt." The attempt by the NYTimes to turn local crime stories into national political agenda, instead turns national political agendas into local crime stories.

9. Once right-wing people mentally and then physically abandon them, left-wing controlled areas are allowed to implement their political agenda without opposition

11. The New Nationwide Crime Wave

In Baltimore, the most pressing question every morning is how many people were shot the previous night. Gun violence is up more than 60% compared with this time last year, according to Baltimore police, with 32 shootings over Memorial Day weekend. May has been the most violent month the city has seen in 15 years.

In Milwaukee, homicides were up 180% by May 17 over the same period the previous year. Through April, shootings in St. Louis were up 39%, robberies 43%, and homicides 25%. “Crime is the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said St. Louis Alderman Joe Vacarro at a May 7 City Hall hearing.

Murders in Atlanta were up 32% as of mid-May. Shootings in Chicago had increased 24% and homicides 17%. Shootings and other violent felonies in Los Angeles had spiked by 25%; in New York, murder was up nearly 13%, and gun violence 7%.

Those citywide statistics from law-enforcement officials mask even more startling neighborhood-level increases. Shooting incidents are up 500% in an East Harlem precinct compared with last year; in a South Central Los Angeles police division, shooting victims are up 100%.

By contrast, the first six months of 2014 continued a 20-year pattern of growing public safety. Violent crime in the first half of last year dropped 4.6% nationally and property crime was down 7.5%. Though comparable national figures for the first half of 2015 won’t be available for another year, the January through June 2014 crime decline is unlikely to be repeated.

The most plausible explanation of the current surge in lawlessness is the intense agitation against American police departments over the past nine months.

Their hope is to avoid any confrontation with reality, or those who notice reality, by discriminating against those of higher intelligence while simultaneously accusing that group of discriminating against the “disadvantaged,” a.k.a. anyone not doing so well under a reasonably realistic social system.

The goal of Crowdism — and by extension, of liberalism — is to avoid those who might notice that the Crowd ideal is out of line with reality. Crowdists work to make jobs into mind-numbing tedium, society into a series of bureaucratic tasks, and to ruin the family and any other honest attributes of society. This drives away the smarter people, who require more from life than bread and circuses, and allows the idiots to take over. This is the sole reason for their focus on discrimination; they are guilty of it themselves, and they want to distract from this so that no one notices the ongoing removal of the smart and their replacement with obedient near-dunces who, in the time-honored tradition of those smart enough to make fun of others but not understand their own failings, will proclaim themselves natural leaders and promptly push their civilization into ruin.

This leads to bizarre charges of people "deserving" what they got, but this only opens another window into r-selected psychology. They know/fear they deserve punishment.

In discrimination, the r-selected fear being judged, and instead of allowing a system where the hard working, intelligent, considerate and helpful are rewarded, they create a system that redirects the discriminatory impulse towards removing those who would likely be best positioned to judge them in the workplace or organization.

Does he think that mums marry their sons for tax reasons at the moment? No, of course he doesn't.

Because? Because there are laws against that kind of thing.

There would be laws against mothers marrying sons due to the risk of pregnancy. I doubt there is any law against father and son getting married because like gay marriage, there would be no law covering something that never before existed.

Mad Max Fury Road Review

Mad Max has become a hot topic in the alt-right for various reasons, including that it is some type of feminist movie. I saw it last night so here's my take.

This looks like another feminist/leftist fail, if that was the intent. When you have a distorted world view, you don't realize how other people perceive your message. One of the best cases is Rorschach from the Watchmen, who was supposed to be the most villainous character, but ended up being the hero to many readers. The author wanted the guy who killed millions of people to be the sorta hero of the story, not the character who died to try to stop him.

In this case, there's definitely a feminist overtone to the villain: he's milking women and treating them as property. If he controlled oil instead of water, he'd look a lot like an Arab despot. There are a lot of female characters in the movie, sort of Golden Girls with guns. So I can see all the feminist parts, but it is really very thin. Charlize Theron is also supposed to be able to kick everyone's butt, absurd, but nothing new.

On the other hand, the entire movie is a car chase with short scenes of non-car chase in between, which is hardly feminist. It is Max who comes up with the final plan to defeat the bad guy, and without him they would have failed. It actually comes off as anti-feminist: there's all these women, but it takes one of Max (and another male character) to bring them to victory. Max is needed to rescue all these women and topple the bad guy.

What I really didn't like: it wasn't a Mad Max movie. It was a movie about these women escaping and Mad Max was a character in the movie, but it wasn't his story. After 30 years, I thought we'd get a new Max-centered story.

In the first two Mad Max movies, Max is dealing with barbarians destroying the remains of the old world, feeding off its destruction. Max fights for those who want to save what's left of civilization.

In the new movie, the villain has rebuilt some civilization. He's pumping water from underground, growing crops and has a functional military. Instead of a mob of barbarians attacking, they're organized. The villain is keeping young women (his harem) for reproduction of healthy, mutation free babies amid a post-nuclear wasteland. In other words, he's not trying to tear down civilization, but rebuild some semblance of one. He's a bad guy, but it doesn't have the same feel as the first movies. I don't remember Thunderdome too well, but it seems far more anarchic in my memories, more like a war lord sitting on top of the chaos as opposed to building an ordered society, however twisted that order may be.

With shades of the end of Elysium, at the end of the movie the water is turned on and allowed to flow without restriction. Immediately I thought: they're going to run out of water.

The world of Mad Max is highly K-selected. The villain and Max are both K-selected, but at the end, Max abandons the rabbits he set free. You know how it will end.

When I was a kid, my dad used to take my sister and me to the Ringling Brothers, Barnum, and Bailey circus every year when its tour schedule brought it to Madison Square Garden. One year (I was maybe 12 or 13, so this would have made it the mid-1980s) the television commercials for the circus advertised that this time, they’d have a genuine, real-life unicorn there. They even showed it in the commercial – this white animal with a long straight horn right in the middle of its head that was riding around on what looked like a parade float, next to a woman wearing a floofy pink dress and one of those conical princess hats (the proper term for that type of hat is a “hennin”, in case you didn’t know that) who was holding its leash.

Well, my sister was just about as excited as you’d expect any 10-year-old girl from an American suburb in the 80s to be about meeting a unicorn in person. I was reaching the age where boys tend to lose interest in things like going to the circus, but I’ll have to admit that I was pretty curious myself. I was old enough to have learned that there was no such thing as unicorns, and yet… and yet, here one was. On TV, no less – and there are laws against lying in a TV commercial! I sure did want to figure out how they’d managed that. So even though I’d been considering begging off that year, I went to the circus without putting up any resistance.

What is behind this dissonance — fewer religious Americans, more Americans complaining? In part, it comes from the fact that recent waves of immigrants have brought with them many more kinds of religions, and these immigrants are settling in places beyond big, diverse cities. “We’re in a period of time right now when there are more religions in the workplace than there ever were,” says Gregg. “People used to live in clumps, but now are living all over the place. A lot of new groups are moving into areas they weren’t in before. There were no Muslims in Cheboygan. There are areas where there were no Muslims at all, and now they are building a mosque. We have one the largest Buddhist groups in a rural area in the country.”

In addition, Gregg adds, “we are in a period of time when people are insisting on being people of faith, and a growing number of people don’t want to have faith inflicted upon them. They want to be people of faith, but not your faith.” At the same time, he says, some people who are religious are now more likely to adhere to more orthodox strains.

Friedman puts it this way: “People are less identified with organized religion, and there is a more strident fundamentalist movement.” Why the extremes? “It seems we are living in a more uncertain world, and for many people that is frightening. We are more conscious through the Internet of the horrible things in the world, so seeking asylum and comfort in a proscribed path for living kind of makes sense.”

The solution: everybody should become an SWPL.

Making religion and the workplace comfortable bedfellows comes down to making a distinction between religion and spirituality for Wharton’s Friedman. Religion divides people. Spirituality, on the other hand, embraces many of the same virtuous qualities any employer wants to see take hold: “The notion of having a spiritual consciousness, being rooted in values such as loving kindness and the connection of all humans as one family, treating others as you wish to be treated, karma, taking care of the planet we share — these are all very useful values for any organizational setting,” he points out.

Rothbard says it’s not about bringing your authentic self to work. “I call it bringing your best self to work,” she says. “Bring your best self to work and talk about aspects of religious identity in a way that might be different, but is hopefully respectful of others’ identities.”

Only when the Boomers are dead will this nonsense go away.

Pamela Gellar Deals With the Dhimmis

The critics of Pamela Gellar have a point. She did taunt Islam and she provoked exactly the response I suspect she wanted. She's is intentionally insulting the religion, which I generally oppose simply on the grounds of civility. If we lived in a sane world, I'd oppose intentionally offending Muslims because it's rude and boorish. We don't live in a sane world.

The winning cartoon wasn't anti-Islam, it was a political cartoon. Drawing the prophet is against Islam, but that rule does not apply to non-Muslims. I assume some of the drawings were offensive for the sake of being offensive, but I really don't see anything offensive about the winning drawing below. In contrast, it would not be difficult to find offensive things aimed directly at Christians on TV in the next few hours. I honestly don't know what drawing an image of Mohammed registers on the offensive scale for Islam, but from my view, most of prime time television is more offensive to Islam and Christianity and Judaism (and more) than this drawing. These media outlets criticizing Gellar are fountains of blasphemy pumped straight into believers' faces. That people can't see this clearly shows how far Western civilization has fallen.

Furthermore, most people criticizing her did not bring on the piss Christ artist or elephant dung Virgin Mary artist and harangue them non-stop. They are not showing the cartoons from the contest on air or in their newspapers or on their websites, as good dhimmis should.

The AmericanThinker rightly juxtaposed this image with the piss Christ that was funded by the NEA. Would the government fund a piss Prophet?

It is not well-to-do families in TriBeCa who are responsible for this waning, as any casual examination of Greenwich Street at 3 p.m. and a look at the outsize apartments in real estate listings might make evident. TriBeCa, in fact, logged one of the highest birthrates in the city. In 2013, the highest rates of multiple births occurred on the Upper East Side and in Brooklyn Heights. Between 2004 and 2013, of all the racial groups that the city’s Health Department measures, birthrates increased only among whites.

Beginning around 2010, as birthrates among whites started steadily to climb up, birthrates among blacks began to go down. In 2013, blacks had a birthrate of 12.7, the lowest of any group in the city, with the abortion rate four times as high among black women as among white women — a reality that has had certain black clergy members alarmed and calling for action. Asians and Hispanics maintained the highest birthrates, but these figures, too, have trended downward in recent years.
